How many crores for the winning Indian team?
India’s Women's Under-19 T20 World Cup team clinches their second title in 2025 after defeating South Africa. The BCCI announces a reward of Rs. 5 crores for the winning team, while the ICC offers no cash prize as per their protocol. Gongadi Trish and other key players shine in the final, securing a remarkable victory.
India's Women's Under-19 T20 World Cup victory, this time for the second time. After winning the title for the first time in 2023, the team recently clinched the World Cup again in 2025. They defeated South Africa at the Bayumas Oval ground in Kuala Lumpur, and the Indian Under-19 women's team became the World Champions for the second time. In the World Cup final, the South African team batted first and was all out for just 82 runs. For Team India, Gongadi Trish took 3 wickets, delivering an outstanding performance. Parunika Sisodia, Ayushi Shukla, and Vaishnavi Sharma each took 2 wickets. The Indian team came onto the field to chase the target of 83 runs. Gongadi Trish remained unbeaten with 44 runs off 33 balls.
Sanika Chalky also impressed with 26 runs. With 84 runs in 11.2 overs, the Indian team achieved a resounding victory by 9 wickets. This victory brought immense honor to Indian women. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a reward of Rs. 5 crores for the Indian women’s team for this victory. This cash prize will be distributed among the players and staff.
However, while every team winning an ICC event is awarded a cash prize, the Indian team that won the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup did not receive any reward from the ICC.
According to ICC protocol, no cash prizes are given to the Under-19 World Cup winners. Similarly, no money is given to the winners of the Under-19 Men's World Cup either. In this context, ICC Chairman Jay Shah presented the World Cup trophy and medals to the players. However, the BCCI announced a large reward for the Indian women's team, which is a great honor for their efforts.
