This giant creature was found in the sea

A giant coral species, Pavona clavus, has been discovered in the Pacific Ocean, visible even from space. This ancient coral, over 300 years old and 110 feet wide, is a remarkable marine specimen surviving in deep-sea colonies despite environmental threats. Learn more about this unique discovery and its significance.

This giant creature was found in the sea

A giant creature has been found in the sea, which is visible even from space. It has been discovered recently. The sea is full of strange structures and creatures. What is hidden in its depths has not been known till now. Every day, people dive in some corner of the vast and bottomless sea on Earth to know and understand it. In this unique specimen of nature, there is a creature that is visible even from space. Do you know what this giant creature is?

The age of this giant creature is 300 years. It is 110 feet wide and lives in the deep sea. This creature is so big that it can be seen even from space. Actually, this is a giant rocky coral, which has been living in the sea for hundreds of years by forming a colony of about 110 feet wide.

According to the Daily Star report, a team from National Geographic saw it in the waters of the Pacific Ocean near Malaulalo in the Solomon Islands. This giant marine creature, more than 100 feet wide, is called Pavona clavus, and it is a type of giant coral that looks like a plant.

This creature lives in a colony in the depths of the sea. It is actually a relative of jellyfish and sea anemones, forming huge colonies on the sea floor with a rocky outer shell. This particular coral colony is record-breaking, measuring 34 meters (110 feet) wide, 32 meters (105 feet) long, and about 5.5 meters (18 feet) high. This is 12 meters shorter than the previous coral colony found in Samoa, America.

The discovery was made by photographer Manu San Felix, who spotted the giant coral while diving around a shipwreck for National Geographic's Pristine Seas project. "It's amazing to see something so big and so old—around 300 years old—surviving such significant changes to the environment," San Felix told Express.

It has been safe inside the sea for 300 years. Coral reefs are threatened globally due to rising ocean acidity caused by climate change, as well as other problems such as pollution, overfishing, and harmful fishing techniques. But the good news for Pavona clavus is that despite the coral's overall precarious status, it is currently classified as 'least concern' on the International Union for Conservation of Nature's Red List.

The expedition team that discovered the giant coral said that the creature is so big that it can be seen from space, according to National Geographic. The expedition's lead scientist, Molly Timmers, said that this discovery was truly an unexpected event. Helen Findlay, a biological oceanographer at the Plymouth Marine Laboratory in Britain, who was not part of the expedition, said that it is surprising that no one noticed it before.
